Parks
Tommy Perkins Memorial Park can be found on
South Grand Avenue. The park is approximately 2.8 acres in size, and is
open to the public from 5 a.m. to midnight every day. Perkins park offers
playground equipment for children and a large covered pavilion with seating.
Several city events, including MayFest and the annual Praise Rally, are held at
Perkins Park.
Tom L. Griffin Memorial Park is located in
the southwest corner of the city, on 16.8 acres of land near the hospital on
South Avenue M. The large park offers a covered pavilion, picnic tables,
walking trails and playground equipment. The swimming pool located in Tom
Griffin Park is open during the summer months each year. This city pool
offers an excellent way for children of all ages to cool off and have fun.
Lake Cooper
Lake Cooper is located in Archer
County, only five miles northwest of Olney. A public boat ramp provides
access for boats, and many also use the area for fishing, swimming, water
skiing, and hiking. Or spend the night, or several nights, in one of the
lakes' many camping areas.
City Pool
Hot day? Then go
to the city pool open May through August (call the City Hall Office at 564-2102 to find out
times).
Golf
Course
Are you
a golfer? Or want to learn? Olney has a beautiful golf course at the Country
Club. (Call Olney Recreation Association at 564-2424 for information).
